Why is SUSTAIN needed?
Currently there is no systematic initiative in place for bringing Australian management skills into line with international best practice in managing for sustainability. This is despite policies and programs proliferating in various guises to address issues associated with sustainability. In almost all these cases, education in sustainability thinking and management has been lacking. Clearly there is a basic need for a simple ‘ how to’ educational methodology that harnesses the creative energy and resources of Australians, particularly in business, to prepare for a sustainable future.

The Closed System™ underpins SUSTAIN.

The Closed System methodology, applied in trials to date using the ‘How to Sustain your Business’ program has proved easy-to-use and effective in achieving improved profitability and productivity improvements, reduced environmental impacts and sound long-term strategic planning for businesses that have been educated in applying its principles

Used nationally, SUSTAIN has the potential to produce across-the-board improvements in sustainable management practices.

It is also an effective instrument for accelerating community understanding of the necessity to implement sustainability thinking to ensure the well-being of future generations and preservation of our diminishing natural resources.
